The PDVI will undertake a range of supportive research and development activities to help advance at least one vaccine to large-scale clinical testing. There is a strong development pipeline for dengue vaccines. However, gaps exist in products required to evaluate dengue vaccines. To fill these gaps, the PDVI will undertake supportive research and development directed at development, evaluation and standardization of diagnostic tests for acute dengue virus infection, development and standardization of improved tests to measure levels of post-infection and post-vaccination induced immunity, and development of diagnostic tests to identify persons at risk of antibody enhanced disease.
