Harold
S. Margolis, MD, is Director of the Pediatric Dengue Vaccine
Initiative, a program of the International Vaccine Institute.
He recently retired from the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention where he became an Epidemic Intelligence
Service (EIS) Officer in 1975. At CDC, he directed viral
hepatitis research and prevention activities from 1987
to 2004, and was Director of a World Health Organization
Collaborating Center for Research and Reference in Viral
Hepatitis. During 2001-2002 he was CDC's Senior Advisor
for Smallpox Preparedness and Response.
Dr. Margolis is a pediatrician and a fellow of the
American Academy of Pediatrics. His research and public
health interests have focused on evaluation and introduction
of new vaccines, molecular epidemiology, and the development
of evidenced-based public health policy. He is the author
or co-author of over180 peer reviewed publications.
